Baseball Bounces Back to Split with Saints

Danny Tiedemann holds Saints to one earned run

Tysons Corner, Va. — Marywood University salvaged a split against Atlantic East Conference baseball rivals Marymount University after squandering a four-run lead in the opening game. The Pacers won just their second-ever win over the Saints in the nightcap.

Marywood fell to the Saints 8-4 in the opening seven-inning game. The Pacers came back to defeat the Saints 8-2 to squash a three-game losing streak.

The Pacers (11-9, 1-2 AEC) ended a six-game slide at the hands of the Saints. It was Marywood's only win besides a season-ending 12-4 win in their last trip to Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Game 2: Marywood 8, Marymount 2

Danny Tiedemann notched his fourth win of the season. He threw seven innings, allowing just an earned run and eight hits. He struck out a pair.

Evan Bruder, Adam Ginsberg and Cam Bott each finished with three-hit performances. Ginsberg doubles and drove in three RBIs.

Brett Kugler threw two scoreless frames to stretch his scoreless streak to eight innings to start the season.

Marywood showed its short memory with a run in the top of the first inning. After Bruder and Ginsberg led off with walks, Joel Ayers reached on a sacrifice bunt and advanced on a throwing error that allowed Bruder to score.

The Pacers doubled their lead the next time the top of the lineup came up to bat in the third. Ayers and AJ Kuzior hit back-to-back singles. Watson Church singled to left field to drive in Ayers.

Ginsberg doubled in a run for a three-run lead in the fourth.

Marymount scored in the fourth inning, cutting the Pacers' lead to two. Seth Sadler doubled down the left field line to bring home Anthony Farmakides.

Marywood's offense broke open in the sixth with three runs. Bott led off with a single up the middle, moving to second on a Bruder sacrifice bunt. Ginsberg singled up the middle to bring in Bott. Kuzior hit a gapper to right-center for a double that extended the lead to 5-1. Kuzior scored the sixth run on a wild pitch.

Game 1: Marymount 8, Marywood 4 (7 inn.)

The Saints scored six runs in the sixth inning to come back to beat the Pacers in the opener.

Five of the six Marymount runs during the inning were unearned.

The Pacers had a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Bruder went 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run. Church batted 2 for 2 with a run.

Isaac Galarza went 4 2/3 innings, scattering five hits and two earned runs. Aidan Dolan threw a third of a scoreless inning.

The Pacers brought in three runs in the fourth inning. Bruder drove in his second RBI with a single to center field. Ginsberg put down a bunt, and the first baseman attempted to throw out Bott at third base. Bott beat the throw that was errant and allowed him to score. Bruder touched home for the fourth run on a bases-loaded hit-by-a-pitch by Kuzior.

Marywood again left the bases loaded in the sixth inning.
