Pacers Pull Away from Neumann in 15–9 Win

Aston, Pa.- The Marywood University men's lacrosse team picked up their first conference win of the season as they defeated Neumann University 15-9 Saturday afternoon.

The Pacers came out firing, building a 5–1 lead after the first quarter behind a balanced offensive attack and strong faceoff play. Owen Kelly sparked the early surge with two first quarter goals, while Luke Ament and Alexander Votra each added scores to set the tone.

Marywood continued to press in the second quarter, outscoring Neumann 5–2 to take a commanding 10–3 halftime lead. Votra and Ben Meighan played key roles in the run, with Votra completing his hat trick before the break and Meighan contributing both as a scorer and facilitator.

Neumann showed signs of life in the third quarter, putting together a 4–3 stretch that briefly cut into the deficit. Matt Morris led the Knights' push, finishing with a team-high three goals, while Connor Hurley and Cooper Dee added multiple scores. Still, Marywood answered each surge, including a late goal from Meighan that restored a six-goal cushion heading into the final period.

The Knights made one final push early in the fourth, trimming the margin to 13–9 after back-to-back goals. However, the Pacers responded decisively. Osten Grigas capped off his three-goal performance with a key tally midway through the quarter, and Ricky Strobel added a man-up goal to put the game out of reach.

Marywood's offense was fueled by depth, with eight different goal scorers. Votra and Grigas each finished with three goals, while Kelly, Meighan, and Strobel all added two apiece. Meighan led all players with five points on two goals and three assists.

At the faceoff, Ament was dominant, winning 21 of 25 draws and collecting a game-high 16 ground balls, helping Marywood control possession throughout. The Pacers also held a decisive 41–21 advantage in ground balls and outshot Neumann 48–28.

In goal, Colin Trainor earned the win, making three saves in the first half, while Gavin Ammlung added four stops after halftime.

The Pacers (6-9, 1-2 AEC) hosts Marymount University in their regular season finale next Saturday.
