Softball Earns Atlantic East Split at Neumann

Aston, Pa.- The Marywood University softball team received an Atlantic East Conference split on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Neumann University 7-5 in game oone before falling to them 5-2 in game two.

Game One: Marywood 7, Neumann 5
After two scoreless innings, the Pacers struck first in the top of the third on an RBI single from Tori Para. Neumann responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to take a 2–1 lead.

Marywood regained control in the fourth, plating three runs. Kat Davis drove in a run with an infield single, Marley Sarafinko added an RBI fielder's choice, and Para contributed a sacrifice fly to push the Pacers ahead.

The Knights answered back, tying the game with two RBI base hits, highlighted by an RBI double from Marina Costello.

Marywood ultimately regained the lead in the sixth inning. Sarafinko delivered an RBI single, and Hoffman added an RBI fielder's choice that also scored another run following a Neumann throwing error.

Neumann threatened in the seventh with an RBI groundout, but the Pacers held on to secure the game one victory.

Davis led Marywood's offense with three hits, while Sarafinko drove in two runs.

In the circle, Brianna Voyer earned her sixth win of the season, throwing a complete game. The sophomore allowed 10 hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out two.

Game Two: Marywood 2, Neumann 5
Neumann jumped out early in the second game, opening the scoring on a two-RBI double from Costello. They kept the momentum going in the bottom of the second, adding three more runs to build a 5–0 advantage.

The game stayed quiet until the sixth inning, when Marywood broke through. Riley Marshall singled, and Taegan Clark later came around to score on an error. Lauryn Notari followed with an RBI single up the middle to bring Marshall home and close out the scoring for the Pacers.

Davis and Alex Dusman led Marywood offensively, each collecting two hits.

Emily Dubisz was charged with the loss after pitching four innings and allowing five runs while striking out one. Megan Linkhorst provided solid relief, throwing two scoreless innings and adding one strikeout.

Marywood (16–12, 5–5 AEC) will travel to Penn State Schuylkill on Tuesday.
