Pacers Sweep Eagles in Home Twin Bill

Scranton, Pa.- The Marywood University softball team earned a pair of Atlantic East Conference victories Thursday afternoon, sweeping Saint Elizabeth University by scores of 9-5 and 9-1 in five innings.

Game One: Saint Elizabeth 5, Marywood 9
After falling behind early, Marywood responded with its most explosive frame of the game in the bottom of the second. Saint Elizabeth struck first with three runs in the top half, capitalizing on timely hitting to grab a 3-0 advantage. The Pacers quickly flipped the momentum, taking advantage of defensive miscues before delivering key extra-base hits.

Following an unearned run to get on the board, Marley Sarafinko tied the game with a two-run double to left center. Moments later, Amber Little cleared the bases with a two-run triple, pushing Marywood in front 5-3 by the end of the inning.

The Eagles briefly cut into the deficit in the third on a sacrifice fly, but Marywood answered again. Lauryn Notari delivered an RBI double in the bottom half to restore a two-run cushion. The Pacers continued to add on in the fourth, scoring twice more on an error and another on an RBI single from Brianna Voyer to extend the lead to 8-4.

Saint Elizabeth kept pressure on throughout the middle innings, scoring once in the fifth behind an RBI single from Rylee Sullivan. However, Marywood's pitching and defense held firm the rest of the way. Voyer worked a complete game in the circle, navigating 12 hits while striking out three to earn the win.

Notari capped the scoring in the sixth with her second RBI double of the afternoon, finishing with a team-high two doubles and two RBIs. Sarafinko and Little also drove in two runs apiece as part of a 13-hit effort for the Pacers.

Tori Para added two hits and scored twice, while Marissa Hoffman crossed the plate twice.

Game Two: Saint Elizabeth 1, Marywood 9 (5 inn.)
After a scoreless opening frame, the Pacers broke the game open in the bottom of the second with a five-run inning. Ariana Shellman sparked the rally with a triple, and Renee McDonald followed with an RBI double to get Marywood on the board. Mia Antolino added an RBI single, Kat Davis dropped down a run-scoring bunt, and Para capped the inning with a two-run double.

Saint Elizabeth answered with an unearned run in the third, but Marywood quickly responded. The Pacers plated three more runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by RBI efforts from Antolino, Davis, and Sarafinko to stretch the advantage to 8-1.

Marywood added its final run in the fifth when Sarafinko delivered an RBI single, scoring Antolino to seal the run-rule victory.

Antolino led the offensive charge, scoring three runs and driving in two, while McDonald finished a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Davis added two hits and two RBIs, and Sarafinko contributed a pair of hits and two RBIs of her own. Para chipped in with a two-run double as part of the decisive second inning.

In the circle, Emily Dubisz was in control throughout, allowing just five hits and one unearned run over five innings while striking out four to earn the win.
