Baseball Swept at Immaculata

Immaculata, Pa.- The Marywood University baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Immaculata on Friday, losing 4-0 in game one before a heartbreaking 9-8 walk-off defeat in the nightcap.

Game One: Marywood 0, Immaculata 4
Immaculata broke through in the bottom of the second when Josh Goulburn lined a single to left, driving in two runs. Matt Paseserini followed with an infield single, and Robert Woodward later came around to score on a Marywood fielding error, extending the lead.

The Mighty Macs added their final run in the third on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Luke Hardnock.

Adam Ginsberg was the lone Pacer to record multiple hits. Austin Bausman took the start in game one, working 4.1 innings while allowing six hits and four runs (three earned) with three strikeouts. Owen Reilly finished the game in relief.

Game Two: Marywood 8, Immaculata 9
The Pacers appeared in control for much of the game, building an 8–2 advantage through six innings.

Marywood struck first in the second inning when Nick Ruiz doubled home Mike Biskup, and after briefly falling behind, responded with a two-run third highlighted by Joel Ayers' RBI triple and Ginsberg's sacrifice fly.

Marywood continued to apply pressure in the middle innings. The Pacers plated two runs in the fourth, added another in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Ethan Reccek, and extended the lead to six in the sixth inning. Ginsberg delivered an RBI double and AJ Kuzior followed with a run-scoring single to make it 8–2.

The momentum shifted in the eighth when Immaculata cut the deficit to 8–3, setting the stage for a dramatic ninth.

The Mighty Macs loaded the bases with one out and began to chip away, scoring on a walk and a two-run single to pull within two. After another hit loaded the bases again, Alex Tronosky delivered the decisive blow with a three-run triple to left-center, completing the comeback.

Ayers paced the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Ginsberg and Kuzior each drove in a pair. Biskup also contributed two hits and scored twice as part of Marywood's 13-hit attack.

On the mound, Danny Tiedemann allowed two runs over three innings before Isaac Galarza provided five strong frames in relief, giving up just one run to keep Immaculata at bay into the late innings.

Marywood (23-15, 8-7 AEC) heads to Neumann University next Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
