Pacers Open with Loss to Neumann, Respond with Walk-Off Win Over Saint Elizabeth

Arlington, Va.- Marywood University's softball team stayed alive in the Atlantic East Conference Tournament with an 8–7 extra-inning win over Saint Elizabeth in an elimination game, before falling to Neumann 6-5 earlier in the day.

Marywood 5, Neumann 6
The Pacers trailed 4–1 entering the seventh inning before erupting for four runs to briefly take a 5–4 lead.

The outburst was sparked by Alex Dusman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Kat Davis, who added two hits including a double to put the tying and go-ahead runs in motion.

Marley Sarafinko delivered a key moment in the rally, reaching on an error that allowed a run to score before Tori Para followed with an RBI single to tie the game. Amber Little gave Marywood the lead with a run-scoring groundout, and Marissa Hoffman capped the surge with an RBI double to center, putting the Pacers ahead 5–4.

Neumann, however, answered immediately in the bottom half. Dakota Marshall singled with two outs and came around to score on Tori Spinella's RBI single to center, sealing the walk-off win for the Knights.
The Knights built their early advantage with a two-run second inning aided by defensive miscues and added two more in the fourth on Ellie Zarnawski's two-run single. Neumann tacked on another run in the fifth to extend the lead to 5–1 before Marywood mounted its comeback.

Sarafinko led the Pacers with two RBIs, while Hoffman finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Para and Little also drove in runs as part of Marywood's nine-hit effort.

Brianna Voyer took the loss in the circle, allowing six runs (four earned) on 11 hits over 6.2 innings.

Saint Elizabeth 7, Marywood (8 inn.)
After falling behind 6–2 in the top of the sixth, Marywood responded with its biggest inning of the season.

The rally began with consecutive hits from Lauryn Notari and Riley Marshall. Davis drove in a run with a single. Sarafinko followed with an RBI single, and Para and Ariana Shellman added run-scoring hits to tie the game. Moments later, a pair of wild pitches allowed the go-ahead run to score, capping a five-run outburst and giving Marywood a 7–6 lead.

Saint Elizabeth answered in the seventh, taking advantage of a Marywood error before Romie Kalupy delivered an RBI single to even the score at 7–7 and force extra innings.

In the eighth, Marywood capitalized on defensive miscues to end it. Shellman opened the inning with a double and Marissa Hoffman worked a walk to put pressure on the Eagles. After a fielder's choice loaded the bases, Notari reached on another fielder's choice, and a throwing error by the shortstop allowed Shellman to score the winning run.

Hoffman led the Pacers with two hits, including a solo home run, and drove in a run, while Davis went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Sarafinko added two hits and two RBIs, and Shellman also finished with two hits and an RBI as Marywood's lineup produced throughout the order.

In the circle, Voyer earned the win in relief, allowing one unearned run over the final 2.1 innings while striking out two. Emily Dubisz started and gave up six runs on 13 hits across 5.2 innings.

Marywood will play another elimination game tomorrow at 12 p.m. With a win, the Pacers would advance to the conference final at 2 p.m.
