Field Hockey Battles with Crosstown Royals

Aubrey Folk records first collegiate defensive save

Scranton, Pa. —Marywood University field hockey battled crosstown University of Scranton in a 1-0 loss on Wednesday. The Pacers fall to 1-2 overall on the season. 

The Royals scored the lone goal in the 40th minute. On a penalty corner opportunity, Maggie Keys shot was stopped by Marywood keeper Sabrina Frazer. Maddie Slavin crashed the board from the insert position to put it in the back of the cage. 

Aubrey Folk had a defensive save in the eighth minute. On an Olivia Dougherty shot, Folk prevented a shot from going past the goal line. 

Frazer finished with nine saves for the Pacers. 

Scranton outshot the Pacers by a 21-3 margin with a 10-0 advantage in shots on target. Marywood trailed just 6-4 in penalty corners. 

The Pacers head to Immaculata University on Saturday in a rematch of last year's conference championship.
