Ruccio Reaches Eighth All-Time in First-Ever 6K Race

Newville, Pa. — Marywood University freshman Joelle Ruccio moved to eighth all-time in women's cross country program history on Saturday. Competing in her first-ever 6K collegiate race, Ruccio came away with a Top 5 run at the Dickinson College Long-Short Run.

The Pacers came in seventh out of eight teams with 70 points in the 6K race. Marywood was 10th in the 4K run.

Ruccio finished fifth in 22:46.2 on the 6K course. Her time was the eighth fastest individual time in program history. She was the second-fastest Division III runner in the field, behind only Dickionson's Meghan Higgins-Haas and three West Chester runners.

Janelle Sanabria ran a 26:23.1 for 56th place. She was one place ahead of Anna Napoli's 26:28.3 finish.

The duo of Abigail Adamsky and Cassandra Juliano finished in 67th and 67th places, respectively. Adamsky recorded a time of 29:24, and Juliano followed 18 seconds behind.

In the 4k race, Kimberly Smyser (18:41.1) and Ella Brennfleck (19:19) were 49th and 50th place, respectively. Maddy Shoenwetter finished 57th place with a 21:38.5.

Marywood will compete next week at Stevenson University.
