Stiles Sinks Game-Winner to Dispel Colonels

Marywood goes coast-to-coast on Wilkes corner kick

Scranton, Pa. — Bryn Stiles netted a game-winning goal in the final minutes to give Marywood University women's soccer a 1-0 win over Wilkes University on Wednesday. The Pacers won their third consecutive game versus the Colonels. 

Marywood went coast-to-coast on a defensive corner kick opportunity in the 85th minute. Faith Meals headed the corner that set up Stiles to race past the Wilkes defenders. Stiles set up a thru ball for a 2v1 breakaway chance for Maura Kirkpatrick. Her shot was palmed by Colonels goalkeeper Delaney Yaracs. Stiles crashed in kick a 7-yard left foot shot into the near corner. 

It marks the second straight meeting between the two teams that ended with a Marywood goal in the last seven minutes. 

The Pacers (5-0-1) stay undefeated through six contests. Wilkes falls to 4-2 overall on the season. 

Genevieve Morrison earned the clean sheet with four saves. Delaney Yaracs had five saves, and Wilkes recorded one team save. 

Marywood outshot the Colonels by a 17-6 margin with a 7-4 advantage in shots on target. The Pacers doubled the Colonels 6-3 in corner kicks. 

The Pacers travel to Galloway, N.J. to take on Stockton University.
