Field Hockey Outlasted by Bryn Mawr's Late Goal

Scranton, Pa. — A late Bryn Mawr College penalty corner sank Marywood University 2-1 Saturday in a non-conference field hockey battle. The Owls scored in the final three minutes to dissolve a second-half Marywood comeback. 

The Owls' Carrie Povich redirected a Julia Ward ball off of a penalty corner opportunity with 2:50 remaining. 

Brooke Barwick scored the lone goal for the Pacers. 

After a first quarter that featured zero shots and zero penalty corners, the Owls got on the scoreboard in the 21st minute. Elodie Anderson one-timed a Leya Patel cross into the glove of the Marywood keeper. Anderson collected the rebound and shot it into the cage for a 1-0 lead. 

Bryn Mawr outshot the Pacers by a 14-4 margin with an 8-3 advantage in shots on target. The Owls edged Marywood 4-3 in penalty corners. 

Sabrina Frazer made six saves in the losing effort. Sydney Wright stopped two shots. 

Marywood hosts Lycoming College on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
