Pacers Pile On In Second Half for 3-0 Win

Cassidy scores first goal in Marywood kit

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University women's soccer got back into the win column with a 3-0 decision over Oswego State on Wednesday. The Pacers scored all three of their goals during the second half. 

Three Pacers — Madison Dias, Chastain Cassidy, Maura Kirkpatrick — each factored in with three points on a goal and an assist. 

Dias ended the stalemate with a goal in the 57th minute. Off of a throw-in play, Kirkpatrick delivered the cross from the left sideline. Her pass took a bounce, evaded a defender, and allowed Dias with an open look at goal from 10 yards out. 

Nine minutes later, Kirkpatrick scored off of a Chastain Cassidy feed. A ball played into the middle of the box was backheeled by Cassidy, setting up an 18-yard attempt on the right flank. 

Marywood (6-1-1) capped its scoring with a beauty of a goal in the 75th minute. Dias airmailed a cross that Cassidy headed into the farside post for a 3-0 lead. 

Marywood doubled the Lakers 18-9 in shots with an 8-3 advantage in shots on target. Oswego edged Marywood 7-6 in corners. 

Genevieve Morrison notched the clean sheet with three saves. Lucy Starzyk had five stops. 

Marywood heads to Western Pennsylvania to take on Mount Aloysius College on Saturday.
