Women's Soccer Stalls Phoenix in 4-0 Home Opener

Kylie McDonald, Bryn Stiles tally multi-point games

Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University women's soccer earned its second straight shutout to start the season Friday. The Pacers defeated Wilson College 4-0 in its home opener. 

Kylie McDonald tallied a goal and an assist. Bryn Stiles had her second-straight multi-point effort with two assists.

After peppering the Phoenix goalkeeper throughout the first half, Cassidy Tweedie finally found a breakthrough with a 41st minute goal from McDonald. 

The Pacers were held in check until a double-assisted goal. Bonita Brigido finished a play from Riley Bittenbender and Maura Kirkpatrick in the 63rd minute. 

Stiles assisted a pair of goals in an 11-minute span. She fed McDonald's first goal in the 69th minute, followed by Chastain Cassidy's tally in the 80th minute. 

For the second straight game, the Pacers defense did not allow a shot on target. Marywood outshot Wilson by a 41-1 margin with a 19-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Pacers had a 25-0 favor in corners. 

Genevieve Morrison earned the clean sheet.
