Women's Basketball Qualifies for ECAC Tournament, Hosts NYU on Wednesday

Danbury, Conn. - The Marywood University women's basketball team qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament for the fourth consecutive season. Marywood qualified for the No. 4 seed in the third pod.

The Pacers (15-12) will host top-seeded New York University (15-10) in the first round on Wednesday at 7:00 pm. The winner will take on the winner between No. 2 Saint Vincent College (18-9) and No. 3 Pfieffer University (20-4).

Washington and Jefferson College will be the overall top-seed of the 2018 ECAC Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The Presidents will receive a bye in the first round; tournament play will begin Wednesday, February 28 at regional sites.

Marywood faced NYU last season in the ECAC first round. The Violets hung on to a 74-49 victory in Brooklyn, N.Y.

In pod 1, the host Presidents will receive a bye as the host for the weekend. No. 2 Hunter College (18-9) will host No. 3 William Paterson (14-12).

In pod 2, No. 1 Mount Saint Mary College (21-6) will visit No. 4 Misericordia University (16-10). No. 2 Grove City College (18-9) will host No. 3 Lebanon Valley College (14-12).

In pod 4, No. 1 Springfield College (18-8) will host No. 4 Brandeis University (12-12) and No. 2 Stevenson University (16-11) will host No. 3 Rutgers University-Camden (14-11).

The winners of each first-round game will go on to compete in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 2 hosted by Washington and Jefferson College.
