Swimming and Diving Splits Home Meet with Colonels

Meet Results

Scranton, Pa. – The Marywood University men's and women's swimming and diving teams split their home dual match against Wilkes University on Saturday. The Pacers women overcame the Colonels 182-65, and the men's fell 153-73. 

Women: Marywood 182, Wilkes 65

The 200 medley relay teams got the Pacers started of strong with a first and third place finish. The team of Julia Randolph, Maia Clasby, Misa Nardone, and Mary Cate Coyle took first with a time of 2:00.43. Coming in second with a time of 2:14.42 were Hannah Darmofal, Rebecca Rotter, Emily Bubel and Atena Majibian. Majibian continued the Pacers success with taking first in the 50 free (58.06).

Marywood's Christine Llewellyn and Sara Fetter finished in first and second in the 1,000 free. Llewellyn started strong in the first lap and was able maintain a consistence pace to touch in at 11:51.46. Fetter finished with a time of 11:56.52. Fetter and Llewellyn then teamed up with Courtney Paulus and Randolph to take first in the 400 free relay.

Coyle had a pair of victories in the 100 and 200 free. In the 200 free Coyle Touched in at 2:05.98 just ahead of fellow Pacer Llewellyn (2:09.64). Coyle finished in 58.06 seconds in the 100 free. Clasby took first in both the 100 and 200 breast with a 1:13.13 and 2:42.4, respectively.

Marywood swept the 500 free taking first through third. Mia Nardone finished first with a 5:37.78. Coyle came in second touching in at 5:48.77. Llewellyn finished it off with a 5:53.04 to take third.

Men: Wilkes 153, Marywood 73

Despite the loss, the Pacers had multiple very close races with a solid meet by Nick Dubinski, who took first in three races. Dubinski, took first in the 100 and 200 breast with a 1:01.7 and 2:21.7, respectively. In his final event of the meet, Dubinski took first with a 2:10.76. In the 200 IM.

Marywood's Walter Marcinkowski, Jared Lubarsky, Blake Burlingame teamed up with Dubinski to take second (1:47.27).

Burlingame had two close races in in the 100 and 200 free. In the 200 free, he touched in just seconds behind Wilkes' Tyler Weatherby to take second. In the 100 free, he finished less than a tenth of second behind Nick Martino, of Wilkes. Burlingame did get over the hump with a first place finish in the 50 free (22.82).

Lubarsky posted a first place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:15.79.Martino also spoiled it for Lubarsky as well. Lubarsky finished less the a half of a second behind Martino in the 100 back. Martino took first ahead of Lubarsky.

The Pacers next event the diving team will travel to take part of the Westminster College Invitational for a diving only event  on Saturday February 9th. The swimming team will look forward to the Landmark Conference Championship the following weekend.
