Women's Tennis Picks up First Win of the Spring

Box Score Queens, N.Y. – The Marywood University women's tennis team picked up its first win of the spring against the Pratt Institute today with 7-2 victory. Marywood improves their record with to 2-9 on the year. Pratt Institute falls to 12-3.

Marywood's doubles teams proved to be too much for Pratt Institute as they swept all three sets. The Pacers team of Lyndsey Medric and Brooke Panek shut out Pratt's team of Isabel Campbell and Easha Jain 8-0. Danielle Ogonowski and Nicole Sinclair were able to come out on top of a very tight match for the Pacers outing Melanie Kania and Amanda Twu, 8-7. In the second set of doubles the Pacers duo of Emily Zarrilli and Devin Zombek won 8-7 over Noelle Benoit and Caroline Madden.

In singles Marywood's Ogonowski and Deena Haroun Mahdavi both had impressive showing only giving up two point in two sets. Ogonowski shut out Twu in their first set 6-0 and in their second set Ogonowski won 6-2. Mahdavi defeated Caroline Madden 6-1 in both sets. Emily Edwards was able to overcome a 4-6 loss in her first set winning the next two for the Pacers (4-6, 6-1, 10-8). Zombek also had a strong outing beating Isabel Campbell (6-1,6-1).

The Pacers will compete in their first Atlantic East Conference match up when they travel down to Immaculata this Saturday March 30^th.
