Purdy Picked as Atlantic East Defensive Player of the Week

Sweet Valley, Pa. native averaged 19.5 points and nine rebounds per game

Lancaster, Pa. - Marywood University junior guard Savannah Purdy was selected the Atlantic East Conference Defensive Player of the Week in women's basketball, officials announced Monday. Purdy is the second Marywood player to receive Defensive Player of the Week this season.

Purdy led the Pacers to a 1-1 week by averaging 19.5 points, nine rebounds and three steals per game. In a win over SUNY Delhi, she posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Defensively, she contributed with four steals. Purdy had 17 points and eight rebounds in a loss to Susquehanna.

The Sweet Valley, Pa. native ranks eighth in the Atlantic East in scoring (12.6 ppg).

Marywood is idle until after Christmas. The Pacers will travel to Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
