Swimming Splits with Immaculata as Women Prevail

Scranton, Pa. - Participating in their first official meet in over a year, Marywood University's swimming and diving teams split with Immaculata University Saturday afternoon at the Marywood Aquatics Center. The Pacer women were 148-73 winners while the men fell to the Mighty Macs, 95-69.  

Marywood's 200 medley relay team of Gabrielle Cholish, Maia Clasby, Maggie Davis and Hannah Darmofal cruised to a nine second win in a time of 2:04:20. The Immaculata men's 200 medley relay team was uncontested to give the visitors their first points of the match.

Mackenzie Blithe won the 1000 free for Marywood in a time of 12:49.11 and was followed by teammate Shannon Wheeler (13:31.46). Dan Shannon finished second in the men's 1000 in a time of 13:10.04.  

Darmofal (2:15.25) and Blithe (2:19.35) finished one-two for the women in the 200 free while Kevin Lyons (2:03.48), Jason Lee (2:04.29) and Walter Marcinkowski (2:34.62) finished second through fourth in the men's 200 free. 

Clasby picked up wins in the 100 (1:15.59) and 200 (2:47.01) breaststroke while Darmofal won the 50 free (28.81) and 100 free (1:02.22) for the Pacers. 

Lee won the 200 breaststroke on the men's side in a time of 2:37.01.  In the 500 free, Blithe dominated the women's race to win in 6:21.27 and Marcinkowski (5:53.67) edged Immaculata's Jeremy Brown (5:54.08) on the men's side. Joey Slish picked up more points for the Marywood men with a win in the 100 butterfly (1:04.66) where he bested his Mighty Mac competition by exactly one second.

Darmofal would continue her dominating day with win in the 100 free (1:02.22) and Clasby added her third solo victory of the day later with a win in the 200 breaststroke (2:47.01).  Lee won again on the men's side with a victory in the 200 free (2:37.01) and Blith won the women's 500 free uncontested at 6:21.27.

To close the afternoon, Marywood's 200 free relay teams were victorious on both the men's and women's side. The women (Blithe, Rebecca Rottger, Nersa Fennell, Wheeler) won in 2:06.65 while the men (Lee, Slish, Shannon and Marcinkowski) won in 1:46.62.
