Lacrosse Hosts Gibby Games Saturday in Honor of Alum

Ceremony to support scholarship fund in honor of former men's lacrosse midfielder Thomas Gibson

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University men's and women's lacrosse teams will honor alumnus Thomas "Gibby" Gibson '21 in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Gibby Games will raise funds for the Thomas "Gibby" Gibson Aviation Endowed Scholarship.

A graduate of Marywood's aviation program, Gibby died tragically in a New Jersey plane accident in July 2022. Gibson was a prominent midfielder on the men's lacrosse team from 2018-2020. He finished his career with 44 ground balls, six caused turnovers and one goal. Gibson started every game of the 2020 season. Thom worked at the Ocean City Airport and for Cape May Aerial banner tow. He was a commercial rated pilot with his instrument rating and tail wheel endorsement.

Gibby Games features a doubleheader with both Pacers teams looking to get back into the win column. The women's lacrosse team will take on Stockton at noon on Pacers Turf Field. The men's lacrosse team hosts Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) at 3 p.m.

A ceremony honoring Thomas will take place prior to the game at approximately 2:45 p.m.

Gibson lived by the mantra that "Anything worth doing is worth overdoing." Supporters and friends may contribute to the Thomas "Gibby" Gibson Aviation Endowed Scholarship by texting 'GIBBY' to 91999.

'Once a Pacer, Always a Pacer' t-shirts featuring Gibby's initials will be on sale at the Turf Field. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund.
