Pacers Repeat as Third in Region; Baronski Breaks School Record

All seven Marywood runners run a PR

Lock Haven, Pa. — For the second consecutive year, Marywood University men's cross country finished third in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Pacers finished with 128 points with an average 8K time of 25:12.

Carnegie Mellon edged Johns Hopkins for the regional championship. The Tartans defeated the Blue Jays by one point (39-40). 

Marywood received two individual automatic qualifications to the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships next weekend in Terre Haute, Ind. The Pacers' Jack Baronski and Bryce Ryder qualified for the NCAA Championships with Top 7 performances. Marywood will wait for Sunday's selection show to find out whether it receives an at-large team bid for the first time in program history. 

All seven Marywood runners recorded personal bests. Six of the Top 11 individual runs in school history were run on Saturday. 

Baronski broke the Marywood school record with a fourth place performance. Baronski completed the race in 24:29.4 to break David Haines' 2019 record by 5.3 seconds. He beat his previous best by 17.5 seconds. 

Ryder ran a 24:35.7 to punch a ticket to Indiana with his seventh place run. He moved into third all-time at Marywood by outrunning last year's regional time by 22 seconds. Ryder improved by 10 slots from last year's race. 

Joseph Cardillo came in 27th place. His 25:20.1 time ranks sixth all-time at Marywood. Cardillo took off 10 seconds from his previous best, set at Lehigh's Paul Short Run. He improved three positions and 17 seconds from last year's race.

Thomas Lee completed the course in 25:29.9 for 33rd place. Lee completes his final regional race with the eighth best time in school history. Lee erased 10.2 seconds off his previous best. 

Marywood's most outstanding personal record came from Raidan Francis. The sophomore dropped 58 seconds off his previous best. Francis moves all the way to 10th all-time in school history with a 26:06-flat. He came in 60th place overall. 

Wil Canney produced the 11th best time in Marywood history. He came in 73rd place at 26:20.5. Canney beat his PR by 13 seconds. 

Rounding out the Pacers runners was John Russo in 103rd place. Russo came in 27:02.9 to run the 18th best time in program history. Russo dropped 24 seconds off his personal best. 

The third-place performance matches last year's program-best regional finish. Marywood came into the race ranked fifth in the region.
