ALL-AMERICAN | Baronski Finishes 34th at NCAA Championships

Baronski becomes the first Marywood cross country runner to receive an All-American honor

Terre Haute, Ind. — Senior Jack Baronski became the first Marywood University men's cross country runner to receive an All-American honor. Baronski finished in the Top 40 at the NCAA Division III Championships in order to receive the illustrious honor.

Baronski finished 34th with a time of 24:39.2 on the 8k course in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Junior Bryce Ryder claimed 128th overall with a 25:22.4.

Wisconsin-La Crosse won the team championship with 77 points.  Wartburg trailed by 96 points, followed by Pomona-Pitzer, Wisconsin-Whitewater and New York University.

With the USTFCCCA honor, Baronski becomes just the second Marywood student-athlete to be named All-American by a coaches organization, joining Jake Schuster (baseball, 2018). He earns the 11th National All-American award in Marywood history.

With just 1.5 kilometers remaining, Baronski was in 41st place — just one position shy of the All-American running. He passed seven runners down the stretch, finishing the final leg in 4:28.6.

Baronski passed more runners than all but four runners in the last 1.5 kilometers.

After starting in the middle of the pack through the first kilometer, Baronski passed 57 runners over the next kilometer to move into 57th place. He was 39th at the midway point.

Standing his ground for the next two meters, Baronski fell back five slots to 41st.

Meanwhile, Ryder enjoyed a similar bump through the second kilometer, passing 48 runners into 82nd. He improved to 60th at the midway point. Ryder fell from the pack over the second half of the race.

Ryder improved by 45 places over his last NCAA Championship race. He was 172nd at the Division III championships in Carlisle, Pa. last year.

For Baronski, it was a major improvement —154 places — upon his previous NCAA Championship races. He was 203nd at last year's race in Carlisle, Pa., and he finished 189th at the 2022 race in East Lansing, Michigan.
