Scranton, Pa. — Marywood University took down Quinnipiac University and Clark University in the NECC Division Eight Overwatch playoffs. The Pacers will face Champlain College in the championship on Friday.
Early in the bracket Marywood would take down Quinnipiac University's PVE Mode team in a 7-0 shutout. Clark University's Steel Squad fell the same way in the semifinals. On the other side of the bracket, Champlain College's Teal roster put up the same scoreline, with two 3-0 victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
After a landmark undefeated season for the Marywood Green squad where it only lost a single game, the team turned its sights to the regional finals. Led by co-captains Mason Gumble and Tanner Fenstermacher, Marywood's high-ranking Overwatch team led a dominant performance in the NECC Division 8 Northeast B gauntlet.
Facing off against the likes of Waynesburg University, East Stroudsburg University, and Seton Hill University Gold, Marywood led a dominant 7-0 season. With a dominant DPS performance from Mason Gumble, Josh Schriver, and Frankie Donovan, Seton Hill University Gold would fall. The team's support lineup of Charlotte Roscher, Tanner Fenstermacher, and Jocelyn Behan pushed the team through the dangers of Waynesburg University's roster.
Marywood's tank player, Daniel Ferreira, dictated dictate pacing and help the Pacers roll through the East Stroudsburg Warriors. The Pacers lost just a single game throughout the season, leading an impressive 21-1 game win/loss score and a 7-0 match score. A .950 wining percentage would place Marywood's Green team as the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.
