Marywood Capitalizes in Game Two, Splits Against Saint Elizabeth

Ryan strikes out a season-high seven batters

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood University Pacers hosted St. Elizabeth College Saturday in a chilly afternoon doubleheader. The Pacers went on to fall in a close contest game one but responded game two with a 11-0 victory.  

Game Two: Marywood 11, Saint Elizabeth 0

Gatchalain led off the Pacers scoring with a RBI single. 

In the second inning, Evan Bruder hit into a fielders choice, scoring Jonathan Schmidt

In the fourth, Marywood tacked on four more runs. Michak hit an RBI single. He later scored on a wild pitch. Ayers reached on an error with Bruder scoring. Ethan Reccek followed with RBI single to push the Pacers to a 6-0 lead. 

Tanner Vicendese hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth, scoring Nick Ruiz

Marywood went on to score two more runs in the fifth off a failed pickoff attempt and a RBI groundout from Ginsberg. 

The Pacers scored their 10th run on a RBI triple from Giannetti, before capitalizing on a Saint Elizabeth error for the 11th. 

Max Ryan (1-1) started for the Pacers, pitching five solid innings while allowing just three hits and a walk. Ryan struck out seven. 

Michael Aronica pitched two innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out three. 

Game One: Marywood 6, St. Elizabeth 7

Joel Ayers and Tristan Gatchalain led the Pacers offensively. Both Pacers went 2-3 with a run scored and recording a RBI. 

In the top of first, St. Elizabeth scored on a RBI single. 

In the bottom half, Christian Michak hit a lead off homerun to even up the score. 

Later in the inning, AJ Giannetti laced a two-run single that put the Pacers up, 3-1. 

The Pacers would go on to score three more in the bottom half of the third. Gatchalain hit an RBI double, followed by a RBI single by Ayers. 

Adam Ginsberg hit a sacrifice fly to put Marywood up, 6-1. 

The Eagles went on to score six unanswered to defeat the Pacers, 7-6. 

Caleb Fisher started on the bump for the Pacers. Fisher pitched 2.1 innings  while allowing four hits, four runs, and walking five. He struck out two. 

Adam Anderson (0-1) received the loss for the Pacers, pitching a third of the inning, allowing two hits, two runs, and one earned run. 

Colton Rinehimer, Tim Higgins, and Owen Reilly combined for 3.2 inning. The trio conceded four hits, one run, no earned runs, and two walks while striking out two. 

The Pacers will be back in action Tuesday with a doubleheader on the road against Keystone.
