Women's Track and Field Finishes as Atlantic East Runner-Ups

Marywood wins five events

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. — Marywood University finished as Atlantic East Conference Women's Track & Field runner-ups this weekend. The Pacers won five individual gold medals.

Marymount University repeated as Atlantic East Conference champions. The Saints edged the Pacers 188-146.5 for the team title. Pratt (75), Immaculata (70), Gwynedd Mercy (64.5) and Neumann (48) rounded out the team standings.

Rosalyn Page won both the shot put and the discus. Page broke the conference championships discus record with a throw of 130 feet, 10 inches (39.88m). She won the shot put with a measure of 39 feet, 3 1/4 inches (11.97m).

Lany Straub took first place in the 5K, 10K and steeplechase. She won the 5K in 19:07.31 and the 10K in 42:27.71. Straub clocked in at 12:52.57 for first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She came in four in the 1,500 and fifth in the 800.

Leah Zambetti took first place in the javelin. She hit a mark of 113 feet, 9 inches (34.68m) for her second championship in the event. Zambetti also earned third place in the discus with a throw of 116 feet, 4 inches.

Abby Megotz broke the Marywood school record in the 400. Megotz came in second place in the 400 with a 1:00.41. She was third in the 400 hurdles (1:14.22), fourth in the 200 dash (27.96) and sixth in the 100 dash (13.72).

The Marywood 4x100 relay team came in third place. Cassidy Asinski, Kalie Fernandez-Naughton, Brooke Barwick and Megotz crossed the finish in 53.2 seconds.

Marissa Martin cleared 4 feet, 3 1/4 inches (1.3m) for third place in the high jump. Fernandez-Naughton was fourth in the triple jump (31-1, 9.47m) and fifth in the long jump (14-5, 4.39m).

Paige Redman was fourth in both the 5K (19:07.31) and 10K (44:52.58). Emma Wagner finished fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:24.41.

Gabby Snee ran to a third place performance in the steeplechase. She clocked in at 13:38.26.
