Staten Island, N.Y. — Freshman Janelle Sanabria broke the first Marywood University indoor track and field record of the 2026 season at the NYC Gotham Cup. At the Ocean Breeze Complex, there was no team scoring.
Sanabria broke the women's 1,000-meter record. She beat the record by 23-hundredths of a second. Sanabria took 26th place with a time of 3:20.16.
Marywood rewrote the fourth- and fifth-best times in the women's 200 and 400. Kalie Fernandez-Naughton sprinted to a 28.2-second finish in the 200 dash, followed by Braelyn Reed's 28.39-second run. Elizabeth Tomasetti (1:04.72) and Tasiyah Johnson (1:05.34) came in 28th and 31th places, respectively.
Abby Megotz was 24th overall in the 400 in 1:03.81.
Camilla Zimmerman dropped nearly four seconds to run the fifth-best 800 in school history. Zimmerman had a 2:33.96 for 15th place.
Fernandez-Naughton recorded the No. 5 long jump in school history. She measured at 15 feet, 3 ½ inches (4.66m) for 21st place overall.
On the men's side, Cyrus Holland moved to third place all-time in the 200 dash. Holland clocked in at 23.36 seconds for 29th place.
Joseph Cardillo was fourth out of 16 runners in the 5K. Cardillo finished in 15:41.14.
Daniel Matyjaszek came in ninth place in the 60 dash in 7.37 seconds.
In the 800, Marywood had top finishers in Raidan Francis (2:02.4), Jadyn Sturniolo (2:05.87) and Brody Graff (2:07.06).
The women's 4x400 relay of Megotz, Tomasetti, Johnson and Sanabria came in ninth place in 4:22.28.
The men's 4x400 relay of Francis, Kunda Ngoy, Sturniolo and Cardillo took sixth in 11:05.79.
Marywood competes at Haverford College on Saturday.
