Women's Swimming Stays Atop Standings after Day Two

St. Mary's City, Md. — Marywood University held on to a two-point edge after the second day of the Atlantic East Conference Women's Swimming Championships. The Pacers men are in third place among five teams.

On the women's side, the Pacers lead St. Mary's College of Maryland 258-256 with Marymount University trailing by 16 points. Marymount holds on to a 16-point lead over St. Mary's College, and Marywood has 126 points.

Marywood scored three swimmers in the 200 IM. Kylee Koratich dropped two seconds off her prelim time for a 2:20.89 for fourth place. Camila Gil had a prelim mark of 2:20.06 for seventh place. Harper Welker dropped three seconds off her prelime time for a 2:28.1.

Catelyn Lieser and Aubrey Mangan were sixth and seventh place, respectively, in the 50 free. Lieser recorded a 26.24-second finish, and Mangan came through with a 26.5-second mark. Bethany Ondreyko was 13th place with a prelim swim of 28.34 seconds.

The women's 200 free relay of Lieser, Koratich, Emerson Gellert and Mangan took third place in 1:45.31.

In the 500 free, Adrianna Howell dropped more than three seconds off her prelim time to take eighth place with a 5:43.49. Tori Sills took off two seconds for a ninth-place time of 5:46.38. Bridget Torley recorded a 6:32.05 prelim time for 14th place.

On the men's side, Alex Corcoran touched the wall in 22.95 seconds for eight place in the 50 free. Anthony Ciotti had a prelim sprint of 27.1 seconds to get 12th place.

Owen Turner came in 10th place in the 200 IM in 2:20.02, and Dominic Leone was also 10th in the 500 free at 6:15.93.

The men's 200 free relay of Sam O'Sullivan, Aaron Purdy, Leone and Corcoran took third place in 1:38.38.

Competition resumes Saturday.
