Two Baseball Players Receive Atlantic East Accolades

Haddonfield, N.J.- The Atlantic East Conference announced the Baseball weekly award winners on Monday as Marywood's Danny Tiedemann was named Pitcher of the Week, while Joel Ayers was tabbed to the weekly honor roll.

Tiedemann allowed just three hits in 11 scoreless innings over two quality starts. He went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, holding opposing hitters to a .088 batting average. Tiedemann struck out seven and walked three. The Manorville, N.Y. senior began the week with a complete game shutout over Saint Elizabeth, limiting the Eagles to three hits with five strikeouts on just 77 pitches. Three days later, Tiedemann threw four shutout innings to pave the way for Marywood's 6-0 victory against Gwynedd Mercy.

Ayers led Marywood to a 4-1 week with a .438 batting average, .625 on-base percentage and .750 slugging percentage. Across five starts, he was 7 for 16 with seven runs, three extra-base hits and four RBIs. He started the week by reaching base three times in a 10-0 win over Saint Elizabeth. Ayers went 2 for 5 with a double in a win over Cairn. In the Pacers' only blemish of the week, Ayers batted 3 for 4 with three runs, a double, and a home run against Gwynedd Mercy. One day later versus the Griffins, Ayers drove in an RBI in each game of Marywood's first-ever shutout sweep — a doubleheader that was a scoreless affair until the final inning in each game.
