Vogelsang Named Head Golf Coach

Vogelsang coached Morris Catholic to first district championship in 60-plus years

Scranton, Pa. — Patrick Vogelsang was named Marywood University's head men's and women's golf coach for the 2026-27 season, announced Director of Athletics Andrew Smith on Tuesday. Vogelsang takes over the Pacers programs in their inaugural season in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Vogelsang previously served as the head boys and girls golf coach at Morris Catholic High School in Denville, N.J. During his four years, he led the Crusaders to their first district championship in the school's 60-plus year history. Vogelsang coached the school's only two state tournament participants. His Morris Catholic teams maintained a 3.5 GPA throughout his coaching career.

He serves as an adjunct professor in Marywood University's School of Education. Vogelsang helped in the creation and implementation of the physical education credential program. He has taught courses on physical education curriculum and instruction, and adapted physical education. Previously, he was the Assistant to the Dean of Health Sciences in 2024.

Vogelsang has spent his career coaching in four different sports. He coached 14 seasons of high school football, leading Washington Union High School to the 2011 California Division III State Championship. He coached two years of high school baseball, leading Riverside (Belle, W.Va.) to a 2014 state runner-up. Vogelsang also spent two years coaching high school ice hockey. He was the director of golf and hockey and Trail's End Summer Camp.

He returns to intercollegiate athletics following a four-year career as an assistant football coach. He began as the tight ends and special teams quality control coach at Division II's Florida Institute of Technology, helping the squad to an upset win over No. 1 ranked West Georgia. Vogelsang spent two years as the quarterbacks and skills coach for Misericordia University. Most recently, he was the tight ends coach at Wilkes University.

Vogelsang received his bachelor's degree in history with an education certification from Fresno State in 2012. He earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Montclair State University in 2020.
