Four Records Downed at Fastrack Last Chance

Staten Island, N.Y. — Marywood University broke four track and field school records at the Fastrack Last Chance meet this weekend at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in New York City. It was the last regular season indoor track and field meet before the AARFTC Indoor Championships next week at Nazareth College.

George Thompson qualified for next week's AARTFC championships with a seventh place run in the 60 hurdles. Thompson finished in 8.64 seconds for the second-fastest time in school history.

Thompson also broke a school record in the 400. Thompson finished in 17th place overall, finishing the race in 51.91 seconds. He also ran the second-fastest 200 time. Thompson crossed the finish in 23.26 seconds.

Marywood ran the three fastest men's 800 times in program history. Thomas Lee ran a school record 800 time of 1:59.23. His 14th place run was six seconds faster than his PR. Michael Kelly (2:00.49) and John Russo (2:01.78) were 19th and 22nd place, respectively.

The men's 4x800 relay of Lee, Michael Kelly, Russo and Christian Scotti were fourth place in 8:44.89.

Katie Shea broke a school record for the second straight week. Shea was 15th in the women's mile with a 5:22.5. Teammate Milana Straub just trailed in 5:22.97. Shea cut 5.29 seconds off her personal best, and Straub beat her personal mark by nearly five seconds.

Marywood also broke the women's 800 school mark. Hayley Gaines took 16th place with a time of 2:26.98. Gaines beat her PR by 6.04 seconds.

Maryam Hamidi took 20th place in 27.79 seconds. Her time was the second fastest ever for a Marywood runner.

A pair of personal records were set by Madi Howell. Howell beat her mark by 81-hundredths of a second in the 200 in a time of 2924 seconds. She measured a triple jump distance of 31 feet, 8 3/4 inches (9.67m) to get eighth place.

Marywood's distance medley relay of Straub, Hamidi, Gaines and Shea took fifth in 13:36.64.
