Cardillo, Ryder Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes

Both men's and women's cross country teams earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status

New Orleans, La. - Two members of the Marywood University men's cross country team have been named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Thursday. Both the Pacers' men's cross country and women's cross country teams were selected as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams. 

Joseph Cardillo finished 32nd at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Cross Country Championships. Cardillo finished with an 8K time of 26:13.1. 

Bryce Ryder came in 43rd place at the Mid-Atlantic Region Championships with an 8K time of 26:41.1.

It is the fourth consecutive USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete award for both Cardillo and Ryder. Both of them are the only Marywood men's cross country student-athletes to earn four individual All-Academic honors. 

The women won its 12th Team Academic with a 3.29 GPA. The men's team also won its 12th Team Academic Award with a 3.24 GPA. 

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
