Women’s Volleyball Ranked Fifth in Regional Rankings

Indianapolis, Ind.- The Marywood University women's volleyball team earned the No. 5 ranking in Region IV in the NCAA's latest Division III NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings for the 2026 season.

This marks the first time this century that the Pacers have earned a regional ranking. Marywood (19-2) ranks 76th nationally with an NPI ranking of 56.066, according to results through Oct. 12.

NPI is a new system that houses the division's statistical data and objectively applies the selection criteria to the data based on the sport committee's established weighted criteria.

NPI is a combination of the following: winning percentage; strength of schedule; home-away multiplier; quality win bonus; and overtime results (when relevant).

The weight of winning percentage versus strength of schedule is often referred to as one of the "dials" that a sport committee can adjust, placing any subjectivity within the criteria themselves. This is the third year NCAA Division III has used NPI rankings.

NYU tops the latest Region IV rankings, with Stevens, a fellow MAC Freedom member, sitting second and Rowan in third. Stockton holds the fourth spot, while Marywood checks in at five. Misericordia, another MAC Freedom member, ranks seventh, just behind William Paterson at six.

Region IV consists of teams in the following conferences; City University of New York (CUNY) Athletic Conference, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom, New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), United East Conference along with New York University from the University Athletic Association (UAA).
