Tavereas Receives Atlantic East Defensive Player of the Week Honors

Haddonfield, N.J.- The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Flag Football weekly award winners on Monday as Marywood's Miranda Taveras was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Taveras scored Marywood's first career points with a defensive extra point, intercepting a pass and taking it all the way for two points in the Pacers' 32-22 loss to Centenary. Later, she had a pick-six when she batted a ball and returned it 16 yards. Taveras finished with seven tackles and two sacks in a pair of losses.

Tavera is the first player in program history to receive an Atlantic East weekly award.

Marywood hosts Neumann University and Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday.
