Haddonfield, N.J. — Marywood University swept the men's and women's lacrosse Atlantic East Defensive Player of the Week awards, officials announced Monday. Luke Ament won the award in men's lacrosse, and Danica Kelly captured the award in women's lacrosse.
Over two games, Ament won 34 of 39 faceoffs for an .872 success rate. He finished with 26 ground balls and one caused turnover. In a loss to McDaniel, Ament was perfect on 17 faceoff chances with 11 ground balls. He went 17 of 22, with 15 ground balls, in a comeback victory over Juniata.
Defensively, Kelly had a team-high 13 ground balls and three caused turnovers. She scored on a twizzler shot from an Avery Meighan feed, finishing with a team-best four goals. Kelly played more of a defensive role in a win over King's, totalling 12 ground balls and three caused turnovers. She also scored the game-winning goal in overtime, capping a three-goal comeback in the last 90 seconds to defeat Kean by a 15-14 decision. For the week, she finished with five goals and an assist for six points.
