Women Sixth, Men Ninth at Diamond City Invitational

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - Samantha Peck's first place finish highlighted Marywood University's swimming programs at the Diamond City Invitational this weekend in Wilkes-Barre.

The women finished sixth of 10 participating teams with a team tally of 649 points, while the men's team was ninth with 372 points. Bridgewater (Va.) won the women's team title in a dominating performance, scoring 1534 points. King's College was second with 9456 and SUNY Oneonta finished third with 924 points. Cabrini won on the men's side with 1263 points. King's (1000.5) was again second and Bridgewater finished third (962).

Peck won the 200 butterfly by nearly four seconds, touching in 2:26.49. Peck also finished sixth in both the 100 butterfly (1:04.00) and 100 breaststroke (1:15.36). 

Elise Shore had a strong showing for the Pacers as well, finishing fourth in the 400 IM (5:05.16) and fifth in the 200IM (2:24.03).  Sabrina Zieger was sixth in the 200 freestyle for Marywood, touching in 2:08.33.

On the men's side, Dylan Hervieux had two strong showings in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke. In the IM, Hervieux finished eighth in 2:10.22 and he finished fifth in the backstroke in 2:05.31.

Marywood will return to action January 14 at Misericordia.
