O'Neill Garners Silver in Second Day of Atlantic East Championships

Both the men and women sit in fourth place with exactly 266 points

St. Mary's City, Md. — Marywood University freshman Molly O'Neill picked up a silver medal Saturday on the second day of the Atlantic East Conference Swimming Championships at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Both Marywood's men's and women's teams are in fourth place with exactly 266 points.

O'Neill took second place in the women's 400 IM. O'Neill dropped 5.5 seconds off her prelim time to finish first with a time of 5:08.82.

Samantha Peck earned a bronze medal in the women's 100 butterfly. She had a prelim time of 1:04.44.

Following her second-place finish on the first day of competition, Sabrina Zieger cut 2.19 seconds off her prelim time to take fourth in the women's 200 free. Zieger completed the race in 2:06.81.

A pair of men's swimmers received bronze medals. Jason Lee recorded a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Lee clocked in at 1:03.44. Dylan Hervieux was third in the 100 back with a prelim time of 55.97 seconds.

In the men's 200 free, Cameron Gorman erased eight seconds off his seed time to take fourth place in the men's 200 free. He touched the wall in 1:53.84. Daniel Shannon was sixth in 2:12.34.

Two Marywood relays came in third place. Nathan Grosvenor, Slish, Lee and Gorman swam a 7:51.5 in the 800 free relay. The women's 800 relay of Zieger, Peck, Olivia Fryer and O'Neill recorded a time of 8:43.14.

In the 200 medley, Marywood was fourth place in both relays. The men's quartet of Hervieux, Lee, Slish and Gorman finished in 1:44.21. The women's relay of Fryer, Peck, Davis and Shore came in a time of 2:03.31.

Competition concludes Sunday at St. Mary's. The Seahawks lead Cabrini 458-397 in the womenn, and the Cavaliers have a 465-347 advantage over St. Mary's in the men's race.
