Field Hockey Picked First in Atlantic East Preseason Poll

Marywood returns three of its top five scorers

Lancaster, Pa. – The Marywood University field hockey team was picked first by the coaches in the 2024 Atlantic East Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
The Pacers, who advanced to the Atlantic East Conference title game last season, received 16 points and four first-place votes, the most out of any team. Marywood is bringing back three of their five top scorers from last season. Cydney Lahr, who was the Pacers top scorer last season, will be returning for her graduate season this year as one of the team captains. Lahr finished out the 2023 season with a total of 48 points on 20 goals and eight assists. 

Dariane Jones will be returning as well after scoring 40 points in the 2023 season. Cassie Slusser is also back and had 17 points last year for the Pacers. 

Immaculata University was second in the poll with 13 points and one first-place vote. Gwynedd Mercy University landed third having nine points, followed by Neumann University in fourth with eight points and Manhattanville University in fifth with four points.
 
The Pacers have their first game this Friday, August 30, when they face off against Vassar College. The AEC playoffs begin on Saturday, November 2, and the AEC Championship will be held on Saturday, November 9, at the highest remaining seed.
