Men's Cross Country Picked as Favorite in Pre-Championship Poll

Haddonfield, N.J. — Marywood University was picked as the favorite to repeat in the Atlantic East Conference Men's Cross Country championship poll, officials announced Friday. The Pacers are looking for their seventh consecutive Atlantic East and eighth straight overall conference title.

The 2025 Atlantic East Conference Men's Cross Country Championship is set for Saturday, November 1st at 10 a.m. The race will be hosted at Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. hosted by Pratt Institute.

Prior to the race, the coaches from all eight institutions voted on the 2025 Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll, resulting in Marywood University being the standout favorite with 49 points and seven first-place votes.

Looking to capture its seventh title in seven consecutive years, the Pacers of Marywood began the season sitting seventh in the region. Senior Joseph Cardillo has set the pace for his teammates this season, garnering two Runner of the Week awards. The three-time first team all-conference selection's regular season was highlighted by a 25:30.00 at the Paul Short Run, one of the top collegiate competitions across all divisions. Bryce Ryder, a 2024 NCAA DIII National Championships Qualifier, captains the squad ahead of what looks to be another historical season.

Marymount, last year's runners-up, landed second in the poll after receiving one first place vote and totaling 40 points. First-year Henry Brys recorded one Runner of the Week award this fall after finishing 64th at the Osprey Open and has been the top finisher for the Saints at nearly every race this fall. The highest finisher for Marymount at the 2024 Atlantic East Championships, Cameron Parvizian, will look to use his experience on the course and improve upon his 31:33.4 time.

Immaculata was picked third in the poll, receiving 35 total points. Securing the final spot in the top-10 at last year's championship meet, Samuel Domencic is expected to lead the Mighty Macs' pack alongside Connor Kakowski, whose 16th place finish at the 2024 meet helped Immaculata secure a third place team finish.

Coming in fourth place with 26 points- Gwynedd Mercy, led by Conner Brennan, a two-time Runner of the Week this season. The freshman has taken the reigns for the Griffins this season and will hope to continue his strong run of form.

Neumann found fifth place after receiving 24 points. The Knights, who finished fourth last year, have undergone large changes in the offseason, coming into the championships as the only program without any upperclassmen. The squad will likely lean on energy and passion over experience and stature.

Pratt was voted sixth in the preseason poll with 22 points. The Cannoneers' season has been highlighted by junior Liam Reilly, who earned Runner of the Week honors on one occasion this fall, as his team found two ninth place team finishes this season.

Coming in seventh was Centenary, who finished in fifth place at the 2024 Atlantic East Championships. Rounding out the field is Saint Elizabeth, garnering eight points. The Eagles are competing in its first Atlantic East Cross Country Championships.

The men's 8k race is set to begin at 10am with the women's 6k race following at 11am. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 12:30 pm where the following will be recognized: Team Champion, Team Runner-Up, First-Team and Second Team All-Conference, Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year, and Elite Scholar Athlete Award recipient.
