Marywood Captures Top Spot at Immaculata Meet

Immaculata, Pa. - Marywood University previewed its Atlantic East Conference women's track and field competition with a first place showing Wednesday at the Immaculata University Invitational. The Pacers were the top team out of six with 182 points.

Kristen Persico won three throwing events. She tossed 101 feet, 10 inches (31.03m) in the javelin. Her discus throw measured at 95 feet, 8 inches (29.16m). Persico won the shot put with a throw of 32-3 (9.83m).

In the sprints, Caitlin Mills crossed the finish in 13.74 seconds to win the 100 dash. Her run was the fifth fastest in school history. Mills was also second place in the long jump (14-5.75).

Maddie Gentile came nine seconds shy of a school record in the 3K. Gentile clocked in at 12:01.32 to take the top spot, ahead of Alyssa Williams, Taylor Seprosky and Maria Castaldi.

The women's pole vault went to the favor of Chesna Andrade-Foster. She cleared 7 feet, 8 1/2 inches (2.35m).

Brianna Roth won the triple jump with a leap of 29 feet, 4 3/4 inches (8.96m).

Marywood's relay teams each captured first in their events. The foursome of Shae Smith, Andrade-Foster, Mills and Maryam Hamidi took first in the 4x100 in 53.71 seconds. Smith, Andrade-Foster and Hamidi teamed with Julia Van Horne for a 4:18.97 performance that won the 4x400.

Madi Howell cracked the record books with the fourth-fastest 400 hurdles time in school history. Howell was third place with a 1:17.78. She also took second place in the 100 hurdles at 18.57 seconds.

Marywood will compete again Saturday at East Stroudsburg University.
