Women's Track & Field Gears Up for Postseason at King's

Rosalyn Page wins event at third straight meet

Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa. – Marywood University women's track and field competed in its final regular season meet this weekend at King's College. The Pacers finished in the top three in seven events. 

Freshman Rosalyn Page won an individual event for the third consecutive meet. Page won the shot put with a distance of 38 feet, 2 3/4 inches (11.65m). She was also second place in the discus, measuring at 119 feet, 2 inches (36.33m). 

Senior Awnshae Smith claimed the top spot in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 4 3/4 inches (4.69m). Smith also set a PR with a sixth place finish in the 100 dash for the Atlantic East Conference's third-best mark. Smith was also second place in the triple jump with a mark of 33-1.75 (10.10m).

Freshman Gabby Snee took second place in the 3K Steeplechase. Her time of 13:34 ranks fourth at Marywood, second in the Atlantic East, and 39th in the Mid-Atlantic Region. 

Senior Maryam Hamidi came in fourth place in the 400 with a time of 1:03.2. Sophomore Hayley Gaines was third place in the 800 in 2:23.93. 

Senior Kristen Persico set a PR in the hammer throw for a third-place finish. Her distance of 115 feet, 3 inches (35.14m) ranks third at Marywood, second in the Atlantic East, and 32nd in the Mid-Atlantic Region. She bested her PR by a mere 2 inches. 

Senior Madi Howell tied Smith in sixth place in the high jump. She cleared 4 feet, 5 1/2 inches (1.36m), moving her into a three-way tie for fourth place in the Marywood record books. 

The 4x400 relay of Howell, Hamidi, Gaines and Chesna Andrade-Foster were third place in 4:23.93. 

Other noteworthy performances include:
  • Brooke Roth beat her long jump PR by 4 1/2 inches with a distance of 13-8.75 (4.18m). She is fifth in the AEC.
  • Gabriella Pimentel notched a PR in the hammer throw. She increased her previous best by more than 7 feet with a throw of 63 feet, 6 inches (19.37m).
  • Caitlin Mills ran the fifth-best 100 dash in the Atlantic East in 13.78 seconds.
  • Cydney Lahr ran the third-best 800 in the Atlantic East in 2:35.91.
  • Daelyn Karboski had the fourth-best triple jump in the Atlantic East with a distance of 30-0.75 (9.16m).
Marywood will look to three-peat in the Atlantic East Conference Championships next Saturday and Sunday at Immaculata University.
