Art Comstock, Ph.D., of Waverly Township, was the men’s tennis coach at Marywood from 2006-2013 where he led the Pacers to four straight Conference Championships and NCAA tournament berths, both of which are currently the most by any coach in men’s athletics history at Marywood.
Comstock, a three-time (2011, 2012, 2013) Conference Coach of the Year, led the Pacers to Colonial States Athletic Conference titles in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, each time advancing Marywood to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Comstock also coached Marywood to a 2008 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) runner-up finish in 2008.
He owns an 80-33 (.708) overall coaching record and was 44-5 (.898) in conference play. The .708 win percentage currently ranks 10th all-time among coaches in Marywood history, and the 80 wins currently ranks 14th all-time and is the most in men’s tennis program history.
Comstock led the Pacers to six consecutive playoff berths (2008-2013) and had two players selected as the conference’s Player of the Year during his tenure. He produced 40 First Team All-Conference selections between singles and doubles and 14 Second Team honorees. In addition to producing seven Conference All-Sportsmanship Team selections, Comstock guided eight players to Gold Medals in the PAC Individual Championships.
Comstock is the Executive Director of Marywood’s School of Business & Global Innovation. He earned his Ph.D. in Business and Economics from Lehigh University in 2000 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance there in 1995. In all, Comstock has led the SBGI at Marywood for over 11 years, first serving as Executive Director from 2003-08 and resuming that role in 2011.
Comstock currently resides in Waverly Township with his wife Bonnie and two sons, Brady and Bryce.
