Hall of Fame
Debby Popper Paciotti, Moscow, a 2000 graduate of Marywood University, is one of the most decorated women’s cross country runners in program history. After graduating from North Pocono High School in 1992, Paciotti went to Lebanon Valley College for a year and a half before transferring to Marywood in 1997 and making an immediate impact on the brand new women’s cross country program.
Paciotti, the women’s cross country MVP in both 1997 and 1998, led the Pacers to a Runner-Up finish in 1998 and the program’s first Conference Championship in 1999, just its third year of existence. In 1997, Paciotti was the lone representative from Marywood on the All-Conference squad. Paciotti was again named to the All-Conference team in 1998 and was chosen as a First Team selection in 1999 when the Conference established First and Second Teams.
Paciotti was a member of the PAC Academic Honor Roll from 1997-1999 and was the first cross country runner to be recognized as a NCAA Mid-East Region Academic All-American, a feat she accomplished on three occasions (1997, 1998, and 1999).
Upon graduation, Paciotti returned to Marywood to earn her Health & Physical Education teaching certificate (2003) and later earned a Master’s Degree from nearby Wilkes University in Classroom Technology (2008). Paciotti is currently employed by the Wayne Highlands School District where she serves as a Health and Physical Education teacher at Honesdale High School.
Paciotti married husband Jason on November 27, 1999. Jason proposed to Debby at the end of the 1998 PAC Championship race. The couple has one daughter, Emily Roseanne.
