Hall of Fame
Jeff Williams is a 2001 Marywood University graduate and former standout pitcher for the Pacers. A 1996 graduate of Scranton High School, Williams attended East Stroudsburg University from 1996-1998 before enrolling at Marywood. Williams, the first baseball player selected into Marywood’s Athletics Hall of Fame, played ball for the Pacers from 1998-2001 where he became one of the most decorated players to don a Pacers uniform.
A team captain in 2000 and 2001, Williams earned Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) First Team All-Conference accolades during his senior season while earning team Most Valuable Player honors. Williams led the Pacers pitching staff in wins in both 2000 and 2001 and led Marywood in strikeouts in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In 2001, he led the PAC with a 1.99 Earned Run Average (ERA) which also ranked him 42nd in NCAA Division III in ERA. His team-best 72 strikeouts in 2001 ranked him 89th in all of Division III baseball.
Williams still holds numerous pitching records at Marywood. Williams struck out the most batters in a 7-inning game after fanning 12 in a game against Anna Maria College. He also ranks second in strikeouts for a 9-inning game with 14 K’s in one game. Williams is the individual single-season record holder for most wins by a pitcher (6, 2001) and most shutouts (2 in both 2000 and 2001). He is also the career record holder in complete games by a pitcher (22), most shutouts (5), most wins (17), most strikeouts (234) and lowest ERA (4.08).
Williams graduated Marywood with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health & Physical Education with minors in nutrition and coaching. He later earned a Masters Degree in Classroom Technology from nearby Wilkes University in 2007. Williams currently is a Health/Physical Education/Swimming teacher for the Hazleton Area School District. He is married to the former Nicole Castellani Williams and the couple has one daughter (Jenna) and two sons (Chase and Bryce).
