Caitlin Hadzimichalis (Kingston), the current Head Women's Basketball Coach at nearby King's College, becomes the first three-sport athlete inducted into Marywood's prestigious Athletics Hall of Fame. A 2009 graduate of Marywood, Hadzimichalis was a member of the field hockey, women's basketball and softball teams from 2005-2009.
Named Marywood's Co-Senior Student-Athlete of the Year in 2008-09 alongside Cook Larrabee, Hadzimichalis was also a Pacer Scholar-Athlete in 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09. She was named the CSAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2008-09, becoming the fourth and last female athlete to earn the recognition.
Originally from Harmony, New Jersey, Hadzimichalis was a four-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and served as the organization's President from 2007-2009. She also attended the NCAA National Leadership Conference in 2007 and served as the Marywood Health & Physical Education Club President in 2008-09. A Phi Epsilon Kappa (PEK) National Health & Physical Education Honor Society member, Hadzimichalis served as the association's Treasurer in 2006-07 and as the President in 2007-08.
In the fall, Hadzimichalis stood out on the field hockey field, where she was a First Team All-Conference selection in 2007 and 2008 and also named to the Conference's Sportsmanship Team those two years. She earned Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Academic honors in 2007, the Dr. Jane Farr Award for Excellence in Field Hockey in 2007 and 2008, was team captain in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and was the team MVP in 2008.
Moving to basketball in the winter, Hadzimichalis again served as captain her sophomore, junior and senior seasons while earning MVP honors in both 2005-06 and 2007-08. She was named to the CSAC All-Sportsmanship team in 2008-09 and was PAC All-Academic in 2007-08.
In the spring season, Hadzimichalis put her cleats back on to become a standout member of the softball squad. She was named Second Team All-CSAC in 2009, earned All-Academic honors in 20089 and was a two-year captain in 2008 and 2009.
Overall, Hadzimichalis was a part of a field hockey program that went from 2-14 her freshman season to 10-9 her senior campaign, which gave the team their first winning season (2008) since the 1998 PAC Championship year, a 10-year stretch with below .500 records. She also helped a women's basketball team improve from 6-19 (3-13 conference) her first year to 16-10 (13-3) her senior year, earning the program's first playoff berth in six years. And in softball, Hadzimichalis and her teammates went 80-69 over four years (46-40 conference), earning playoff berths in her junior and senior seasons (2008 and 2009).
After serving as assistant women's basketball coach at King's College for seven seasons, Hadzimichalis was named Head Coach for the Monarchs in July 2016. She currently resides in Kingston and recently took the team to the Freedom Conference Championship game.
