Hall of Fame
The 2008 Women's Soccer Team had a historic season, finishing with a 13-5-3 overall and 9-1 conference record. It currently holds the program's longest win streak with nine. The 13 wins is tied for third all-time in program history.Â
The women's soccer team was the first automatic qualifier in Marywood history.Â
The team went into the CSAC tournament opening up with a thrilling 1-1 match-up with Cabrini, advancing 3-0 on PKs where Meghan Coyle saved all three of the Cavaliers' attempts. In the championship game, Marywood scored a goal in each half to defeat Gwynedd Mercy, 2-0. In doing so, the Pacers became the first Marywood athletics team to qualify for the NCAA Division III Tournament in 19 years and the first to earn a automatic bid.Â
With an automatic qualification for the NCAA Division III National Tournament, the Pacers played Washington & Jefferson College to a 1-1 draw and were eliminated in PKs.
The Pacers featured a roster comprised of Andrea Barker, Meghan Brown, Jen Cady, Mandy Costello, Molly Cotton, Meghan Coyle, Christina Diehl, Tanisha Dorner, Lisa Gavin, Lisa Hanselman, Leslie Higham, Stephanie Hoffman, Kaitlyn Hresko, Shannon Hresko, Erin Kropa, Caitlin Light, Claudia Mazza, Erica Mechalke, Kaitlyn Miller, Kristin Powers, Kelcie Reightler, Kayla Scannell, Tayler Simmons, Jennifer Slesinski, Elise Tracy and Diana Young. Marywood was led by head coach Andrew Smith and assistant coaches Sr. Elizabeth McGill, Casey Miller, Nina Kocylowski.Â
Both Barker and Coyle were selected to the Marywood Hall of Fame during the 25th induction class.Â
