Kevin BorrelliĀ (Dickson City), the former head men's and women's cross country coach, led the Pacers to unprecedented success during his tenure as the Pacers' mentor. Borrelli remains with the program to this day, serving as assistant men's and women's cross country/track and field coach.Ā Ā
From 2008-2013, Borrelli led the women's team to four straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championships.Ā The 2012 and 2013 championship teams had perfect scores, meaning his runners took first through fifth places.Ā He also led the men's team to three runner-up finishes (2009, 2010, 2011) and the women's team to one (2009). For his efforts, Borrelli was named the CSAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year five times (2009-2013).Ā Ā Ā
Borrelli took a women's program that was ranked 28th in the Mideast Region in 2008 all the way to a third place ranking in 2013, when he was named the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Mideast Region Women's Coach of the Year. The third place regional finish in 2013 ranks as the highest regional finish for the women's program to date.
Among his many accomplishments at the helm of the men's and women's cross country programs, Borrelli led the women's team to their first NCAA at-large bid in 2013 where the team finished 24th out of 32 teams at the National Championships.Ā He also produced one NCAA individual qualifier - Beth Schwab - in 2012. Three female runners won CSAC individual championships during his tenure with Schwab winning the title in 2012 and Diana D'Achille claiming it in both 2010 and 2013. In addition, eight women were named All-Region and three were named to the NCAA All-Mideast Region Freshman team (Stephanie Bender, 2009; Diana D'Achille, 2010; Emma Doughman, 2012).
Borrelli had 25 women and five men earn First Team All-CSAC honors and 25 more (12 men, 13 women) earned Second Team recognition.Ā His programs had two NCAA Top 100 finishers and 21 Regional Top 100 finishers. Two of his women's teams and one of his men's teams also earned USTFCCCA Team Academic Awards and the 2013 women's team was named the CSAC Team Academic Award winner for having the highest team GPA in the conference. In addition, six women's cross country runners were named USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees.Ā Ā
During Borrelli's six-year run as Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach, his women's teams produced 28 of the top 50 5K times and 41 of the top 50 6K times in school history, while his men's runners had 35 of the top 50 8K times, including school records at all distances.Ā His teams also have five of the top highest regional finishes in school history.
Borrelli is currently a teacher for the Pocono Mountain School District. He resides in Dickson City with his wife Brenda and two children, Jacob and Cassidy.Ā
